Databases
Kendall Elementary School subscribes to a number of online databases which students may find helpful in completing school assignments or exploring topics they are interested in. Students may access these databases from home by picking up a list of usernames and passwords in the library.
Scholastic BookFlix
An engaging online literacy resource that pairs classic fictional video storybooks from Weston Woods with related non-fiction ebooks from Scholastic. BookFlix was created for students that are pre-kindergarten through grade 3.
Curriculum correlations for each title TrueFlix™ has been described by some of our customers as “e-books on steroids”. It is the only online resource that leverages the award winning True Books content to help students hone literacy skills, build knowledge of subject-area content, and cultivate 21st Century skills through the inquiry process. TrueFlix™ will be updated every year with at least 12 additional True Books and the related scaffolding.

Grolier Online Kids Splash contains electronic encyclopedias including Grolier Multimedia Encyclopedia, The New Book of Knowledge, Encyclopedia Americana, Amazing Animals of the World, America the Beautiful, and Lands and People.

Award-winning and proven educational resource including hundreds of standards-aligned animated topics. Covers Science, Social Studies, English, Math, Arts & Music, Health, and Technology for grades 3 through 8.
Pebble Go Animals, Earth and Space, & Biographies
PebbleGo, the award winning PreK-3 database for reading and research, includes database options for Animals, and Earth and Space, and Biographies. All have the built in reading and research tools including leveled text, educational games, and videos support science concepts for your youngest researchers. Capture the interest of your emergent readers and researchers while helping them learn database and reading skills using the database designed for them.
ProQuest
Includes the eLibrary which enables K-5 students to search across more than 38 reference books, 100 plus hours of audio/video content, 400,000 pictures and images, 4,000 maps, more than 100 children’s magazines, including Ranger Rick, Cobblestone and Sports Illustrated for Kids, and thousands of articles and transcripts from more than a dozen newspapers, TV and radio outlets.
World Book Kids
This is an on-line version of the World Book encyclopedia. It has a special section called today in history and a current events section that are very interesting. Search by SUBJECT just like you would in any electronic encyclopedia.
